Aquaretto has dishing on the front cover and shelf wear on the back cover:

Carcassonne's meeple shaped box has structural challenges due to its shape - the box top is peeling at some spots and is detaching itself from the sides. I have not seen this with regular square shaped boxes, just this one so I do think it is because it is meeple shaped. This is the same for both front and back covers. I figure some good glue should do the trick but have not tried it yet.
